One of the island’s premiere production companies—Gaiety Productions Limited––is going full swing into the jazz scene for the first time and presenting the first jazz show for St Lucia Jazz 2008. Teaming up with another thriving local business––The Travel Boutique––to produce what is expected to be one of the highlights of this year’s jazz season. the show: "The Funky Roots & Grooves Concert" will be headlined by one of the greats of jazz music Maceo (pronounced "May –sio") parker.

The cast of Thumbelina as most had predicted, brought down the house with their fairytale drama last weekend. For the audience it was evident that theatre could bring out so much when children were introduced to it at a young age.

Word up!

Adrian Augier, director of The St Lucia Arts Festival Company can be counted on to be as congenial as possible with his words. While some of us in the audience at Word Alive 4 were bitterly commenting on the lack of serious institutional support for the arts (including the particular event) by any administration, Augier softened it up a bit in the pre-amble to his poem.
