The cast of Thumbelina as most had predicted, brought down the house with their fairytale drama last weekend. For the audience it was evident that theatre could bring out so much when children were introduced to it at a young age.
The play’s almost flawless finish had much to do with the play’s director, Drenia Frederick who had quite an experience getting the kids to memorize their lines and dances. Lots of rehearsals and patience were Frederick’s recipe for success with the kids. Credit must be given to costume designer Lyn Bristol for her creative flair, another applause worthy aspect of the event.
As a result of their successful debut, the Kiddies Head Start Development Center will hold a repeat performance on Friday April 25 at the National Cultural Center from 1pm. If you missed out of the first performance of Thumbelina, here’s your opportunity to witness the theatre group that everyone’s talking about. The director of Kiddies Head Start Nancy Evelyn says the encore event will target school children. Nancy Evelyn thanked the students, their parents and St Lucians for supporting the event.
