Ronetta Henry, car renal agent, Corinth: I’m not really feeling the buzz for Jazz this year. Jazz has already begun in some places and the official opening for St Lucia Jazz takes place today. I think canceling the regular opening ceremony from Marchand took so much away from the festival. Without the regular opening in Marchand how can anyone be hyped up for Jazz? Fond d’Or Jazz isn’t for everyone.

Melinda Regis, sales representative, Grand Riviere: The economy is declining, that fact is obvious to all. It was amusing to hear the prime minister blame Cricket World Cup for the decline in the country’s economy. I didn’t hear him speaking out about the whole thing when the Cricket World Cup nonsense was going on. Why should he say something about it now? It’s not as if he was openly against it from the beginning.

Should the government be doing more to help St Lucians cope with price increases? Monday, April 21, 2008 (466 reads)
Jade Weekes, graphic designer, Castries: I don’t think there is really much the government can do. As we all know, people all over the world are feeling the impact from price increases. We can be thankful that our situation is not as bad when compared to places like Haiti. I don’t think this is the time to complain. We should count our blessing while we still can.
