What are you expectations for the St Lucia Music Awards? Monday, February 25, 2008 (588 reads)
John Jn Phillip, artiste, Anse La Raye: I think that St Lucian artistes are very perseverant. I don’t know how much they get paid for concerts and things of the sort in St Lucia but from what I understand it’s nothing compared to what they get when they perform internationally. I have a problem with the fact that we pay so many of these so called, "big time" artistes to come down to St Lucia and we don’t even want to pay their own artistes. Sometimes they give these artistes money before they get down here and they don’t even show up. I hope the Music Awards raises the awareness of the great crop of musicians we have in St Lucia.

Adrianna Mitchel, store manager, Castries: I don’t know why everyone is making such a big deal about such petty things. I’m sure that when Kenny Anthony was in government he used the perks and the allowances. I don’t see any problem with a government minister getting his rent paid from government funds. He’s prime minister! So many CEO’s and managers get those benefits from their jobs, so why can’t the prime minister?
