Kenny, Rufus comment on King’s latest troubles. More than meets the eye? Wednesday, January 30, 2008 (1936 reads)
It is not the first time that Kenny Anthony and Stephenson King have been involved in a controversy centered on rent money. In 1997 shortly after the Labour Party took office the new prime minister Kenny Anthony publicly announced that at least three ministers of government, one of them Stephenson King, was several years behind with rent payments owed the government.

Taiwanese hand out more cash . . . this time to the police! Monday, January 28, 2008 (1731 reads)
The questions will be asked: Had it not been for Kenny Anthony’s big mouth at Thursday evening’s huge Labour Party meeting in Castries, would police commissioner John Broughton have remained tightlipped about his little envelope from the president of Taiwan? Obviously he received his Chinese cookie before Thursday’s rally. Did he notify the foreign affairs ministry upon receipt? The Prime Minister? What did he do with the money?

If over-sensitive supporters of the incumbent United Workers Party imagined they were rid of troublesome Rufus Bousquet they now have good cause to think again: this week the former foreign minister largely responsible for the nation’s current halÈ-kasÈ relationship with Taiwan complained that there was something smelly about his dismissal several months ago by a terminally ill Sir John Compton. By Bousquet’s own account, almost everything about that episode demands clarification, at the very least.

King’s New Year gift! Thursday, January 03, 2008 (2000 reads)
The St Lucia Senate is fast taking on the appearance of a warehouse for political losers: on the side of the incumbents is Guy Mayers, who had failed to unseat Philip J Pierre in the December 2006 general elections; Tessa Mangal who had proved easy prey for SLP newcomer Robert Lewis; and Gaspard Charlemagne who was left choking on sulphur dust at the cyclopean feet of Harold Dalson.
